A standard bathroom renovation takes 4–8 weeks once the scope is defined and materials are ordered. A large primary ensuite with custom tile work can take 8–12 weeks. Custom tile installations and steam shower builds add time. We build a realistic schedule and stick to it.
Proper shower waterproofing uses a membrane system (Schluter KERDI, RedGard, or similar) applied to the substrate before tile installation. This prevents moisture from reaching the wall assembly behind the tile. Without it, even a properly grouted tile installation can allow water infiltration over time. Every shower we tile is properly waterproofed.
Plumbing relocation and any structural changes to bathroom walls require City of Toronto permits. A like-for-like bathroom renovation (same fixtures in same locations) may not require a permit, but we assess this on a project-by-project basis and advise accordingly.
